#101 – Curvy Rhombic Tuttminx
Price range: 13.00$ through 147.00$
A curvy cut Rhombic Tuttminx that rejects illegal moves reliably.
Description
This page is about a Curvy Rhombic Tuttminx. Unlike our previous Rhombic Tuttminx, the key feature of this version is: it physically stops illegal moves.
The mechanism used in this Curvy Rhombic Tuttminx is the same as that of Curvy Tuttminx V2. The ‘Curvy’ in the name is to reflect its conic cutting geometry. Such is Curvy Tuttminx to Classical Tuttminx.
Currently this product is provided in two versions: DIY FDM version and MJF version.
The MJF version comes assembled with all color tiles installed. If you want to apply tiles by yourself, leave a note when ordering or send us an email after ordering. Note that the tiles are snapped into place which means you can apply them by yourself.
The DIY FDM version is a tough challenge or an advanced DIY puzzle: you have to print all parts by yourself then assemble it with the help of standard core parts shipped. Refer to Building DIY FDM Puzzles and Manual for Spherical Rhombic Tuttminx.
Below is a typical part from this FDM version. The part is usually split into two halves by a plane, then joined together by two customized screws designed for positioning and fixing.

Above being said, FDM version was actually designed with minimum requirements in head.
Please refer to ‘Different Product Versions‘ for detailed version specific design preferences.
If you are looking for a customized project based on our existing or similar puzzle, refer to ‘Customized Design and Making Service‘ for detailed customization service. Customized projects include but not limited to shape modification, sticker modification, size modification etc.
Out of respect as well as for reference, we will try to introduce other designs in the same or close mesh topology.
- Fake Tuttminx by Sam Jiang: this is best in correspondence with ‘Classical Tuttminx’ . Although it looks as easy as adding one layer from current Curvy Rhombic Tuttminx, the external layer is hard to be printed without support while remaining precise assembly with layers below. Same situation with Classical Tuttminx. These two models require extra efforts to meet our DIY FDM design preference.
- Flower Icosahedron by Kevin Uhrik: this model is readily transferrable into DIY FDM version and illegal rotations can be stopped.
- Rhombic Tuttminx (spherical, mass produced) by VeryPuzzle: going to be available in DIY FDM form with grippy tiles and rejects illegal moves.

Enjoy!
